Lucy Padula, B.A. LL.B (Hons), Accredited Family Law Specialist, Collaborative Lawyer

Lucy joined our firm in early 2007 after being opposed to us in a significant financial matter.

Lucy’s tertiary studies include a double Arts Major in Women’s Studies and Politics. She completed her thesis on the legislation affecting same sex relationships throughout Australia and the breakdown of these relationships. She is an accredited family law specialist.

Lucy has chaired family law seminars for the young lawyers' section of the Law Institute of Victoria. She volunteered at the Broadmeadows Legal Service for a number of years and is a practitioner member of Collaborative Professionals Victoria.

Collaborative process involves negotiations taking place in the presence of all parties during meetings, with the parties setting the agenda for meetings. A contract is signed in relation to negotiating in good faith to resolve the dispute without litigation. The aim is to achieve a fair process and just outcome for both parties.

Lucy's Reflections:

  • So many people feel emotionally powerless when they come to us. We give them an objective space to clarify the issues and determine what needs to be addressed to assist them during this terrible period of their life.
  • We empower our clients with the law, ensure they are aware of their rights, and enable them to take some power back when dealing with what are so often difficult and stressful situations.
