Why a Family Lawyer Professional?

As a specialist law firm we are able to bring a professional edge, while having empathy for our clients and an understanding of the associated stresses of family law issues. We blend this edge with a friendly voice. Our Lawyers work together as a tight professional team to help clients through difficult times.

Many firms of Lawyers attempt to practice in a number of areas of law, but Berry Family Law has consciously chosen not to do that. We believe that as the law has become more complex, the only way a client can be confident that their Lawyer is up to date with the latest changes and practices is for the Lawyer to specialise in one area of law, have a proven record of ongoing professional development, and recognition by their peers.

What does it mean to be a Family Law Specialist?

Only the best lawyers in their field of expertise become Law Institute Accredited Specialists.

  • Accredited Specialists must have at least five years full time legal practice experience, have at least three years experience in their area of specialisation, and maintain a high degree of Professional Development in their area of specialisation.
  • All Specialists must pass a comprehensive examination process, testing technical knowledge, writing and practical advocacy skills. This examination process is developed and assessed by industry experts.
  • Specialists need to apply for re-accreditation every three years.

Only Accredited Law Institute of Victoria Specialists can use the Specialist Accreditation logo.
